Me
I work in Old Rauma in my own den facing my home, an
old house in which I live with my husband. Our grown-up daughters have
already moved out of their childhood home. Between the houses there is
a garden which is my most beloved hobby with its old perennials and siren
forts.
I work as most people do. In the evenings and weekends
I relax and loaf around.
My relationship to my work is ambitious and humorous.
I can't afford inspiration. Where do I get my ideas? I think looking for
ideas is a part of this work; the works do spawn from each other anyhow.
After a long break I always have to do some "warm
up work", which spawns the next work.
Lately I've been studying the life of a woman as it
is so close and familiar to me. I really enjoy portraying people. Finishing
a new sculpture is like giving birth to a new person. I stand for special
know-how in our country with my big ceramic human figures. My sculptures
draw attention and speak to the audience. Each of my exhibitions is built
on a different theme. I also draw and paint. Few weeks before an exhibition
I get the stage fright - I'm afraid of the reaction of the audience and
the failure.
Still, I think I am a quite happy person. An inspiring
and challenging work has been granted to me.
